We
know that only superior
mares
produce superior foals. That is why we have very carefully hand selected
a few top quality mares. They were selected based on a combination of:
conformation, disposition, gait, bloodlines, and then color. There mares
represent some of the best bloodlines in the walking horse breed as
well as true versatility. When we select a stallion to cross with our
mares, we are careful to cross two horses that will improve upon each
other to create a better foal. All of our foals are imprinted at birth
and handled daily. We wean our foals between 4 - 6 months depending
on the condition of the mare and foal. We typically wean stud colts
a little earlier if they show signs of stallion-like behavior. When
we register our foals, we stamp the names of the foals that are a result
of our carefully managed breeding program with "WF" to show
our pride in these exceptional youngsters (if it will fit with our chosen
name length.) If you purchase a foal from us before we register them,
you may choose whether or not to use "WF" in your foal's name.
Be sure to check out our
PRESCHOOL ADVENTURES page to see
the training that our youngsters go through.
Be sure to check

foals we've raised
page to see examples of the foals we've bred and raised at Westwood!
We have incentives available for our foals who compete in the TWHBEA
trails program,
versatility program, and those who win high
point awards with TWHBEA or NWHA.

4/11/2025 - Bay Sabino -
Colt
CONGRATULATIONS TO JONATHAN ALLRED OF SADDLEBROOK STABLES |
This bay sabino colt has it all-- flash, height, substance,
smooth gaits, brains, and the SWEETEST personality! He is
bold, brave, extroverted and wants to be part of everything.
He should mature to over 16hh and have enough bone to hold
most any rider. He would make a flashy, eager to please
field trial or trail horse with enough talent to show. This
colt has a huge backend with a lofty front end to match.
He's going to have a completely natural smooth 4-beat gait
that won't quit, along with a drop dead gorgeous canter.
He's been loping since the day he came out of his mother's
womb. He plays like a little quarter horse - sliding to stop
and turning on a dime like a little reining horse. He will
be incredibly athletic. His dam is
Delight Me With Jazz. She has a big, bold,
loose way of moving. She has the perfect range of gaits -
she can do the whole spectrum, but easily holds in ghte
middle for that beautiful four-beat, silky smooth gait. She
has a wonderful disposition. She is friendly, but not overly
pushy. She has plenty of common sense and curiosity. She is
easy to work with and has plenty of handling since birth.
She stands 16.2 hands, but seems even taller with her
commanding presence, BIG bone and broad chest.
